Round Celtic Cross

The Round Celtic Cross is a simple interlaced spiral based on a 9th century carving at the great monastic centre of Clonmacnois, Ireland.

This cross is handmade in Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland by skilled craft-workers at Wild Goose Studios. Using a cold cast method, each piece has a shell of pure cast bronze backed by a resin and ceramic core for stability. Any variations in finish are part of its appeal. This bronze piece can be placed outdoors where it may acquire a green patina over time. It can be left to age naturally or polished occasionally with a soft cloth and beeswax to retain its shine. Since ancient times, bronze has been a highly prized metal for the making of tools, jewelry and statues. It is an alloy of copper, which was first mined in Ireland over 4000 years ago.
