Large, pewter openwork Celtic cross with embossed design on stainless steel trace chain.  The Celtic cross symbolizes the bridge to higher energies and planes of existence. It represents the relationship between the celestial realm (vertical axis) and the earthly plane (horizontal axis). The circle around the cross symbolizes both the Great Wheel of Life and the solar energy. In this way it can be seen that Celts easily adapted their ancient religious beliefs to the new ones introduced by Christianity.

Width: 1 3/8” (35mm) Height: 2 5/8” (65mm) Chain length: 27 inch (69cm). Supplied in a satin and velvet-lined gift box.  Jewelry is handcrafted in Cornwall. FREE SHIPPING in the U.S.

Pewter is an alloy made of 92% tin, with copper and antimony to harden it and enhance casting. Enduring and malleable, it acquires an attractive patina with age. During most of the 20th century the tin used to make pewter was mined in Cornwall.
